TURNING 65
vs
SPECIAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD AFTER AGE 65
Turning 65
If you are turning 65, you are generally eligible to receive Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Medicare Part B (medical insurance) if you are a United States citizen or a permanent legal resident who has lived in the U.S. for at least five years in a row.
It usually takes about 7-10 days to receive approval – You will receive a letter stating your effective date for parts A & B. At that time, you can enroll in a Medicare Advantage Program.
You are eligible to register for Medicare 90 days before your 65th birthday.
SEP after age 65 (Part b)
You can enroll in Medicare Part B after age 65 without penalty if you provide employer creditable coverage (Cobra is not proof) after 65.
Use the button below to get the form you’ll need to have your employer fill out as your proof of creditable coverage. This form will be attached online with your application.

You should have a response within 7-10 days.
